For lecture 3, I am going to spend 20 minutes each of the following 3 topics, namely:
- Cylindrical coordinate
- Spherical coordinate
- Gradient of a scalar
Please go through my lecture notes (lectures 1 and 2) so that you can prepare some questions for tomorrow as this is one of the topics that require a lot of imagination. Please do bring your Tupperware water bottle so that we can visualize the cylindrical coordinates and I will be bringing my bowling ball for the visualization on the spherical coordinates. If you want, please do bring your basketball / football so that we can have the visual aid to enhance our understanding about the orthogonal coordinate systems.
