While searching for the theoretical limit on the highest frequency of operation for the solderless breadboard, I came across an article by Robert A. Pease, an engineer who to my understanding first published the article in Electronic Design in 1991 (http://www.national.com/rap/Story/0,1562,8,00.html)

He talked about one of the senior engineer had to explain to one unhappy customer as to why his switching regulator using solderless breadboard (http://eecs.vanderbilt.edu/courses/ee213/Breadboard.htm) did not work. She explained that the inductances are awful (due to long interconnect line) and  stray coupling in the order of 2-4 pF.
