Week 8 - Lecture 21-22 for EEE132 Electronic Device 17th April, 2012

After 1 week break, the class resumed at a little bit slow phase as I just completed my gradings of Homework 2 and the exam questions.

For the 2 hour lectures, we managed to cover Chapter 4 (Excess Carriers in Semiconductors) the following sections:
4.1 Optical Absorption - hv > Eg, hv < Eg, and absorption coefficient
4.2 Luminescence - mainly on photoluminescence and briefly cover electroluminescence (injection-type for the case of BJT)
4.3 Carrier Lifetime and Photoconductivity - derivation of excess carrier concentration from generation and recombination rate
