EEE376 SI 2011/2012 Overall Performance : Precaution for Upcoming Students

The results for Electromagnetic Theory SI 2011/2012 are the worst that I had encountered for the past 10 years. The overall Grade Average is 1.93, which falls under Less Satisfactory Band (Note that 3.50-4.00 = Distinction; 3.00-3.49 = Very Good; 2.50-2.99 = Good; 2.00 - 2.49 = Satisfactory; 1.50-1.99 = Less Satisfactory; 1.00-1.49 = Poor; 0.00-0.99 = Very Poor).

It could get worse if not for the Grade Average of 3.39 for the coursework (30 %), which consists of 4 homework (20%)  and 2 tests (10 %).

My pledge to those who are going to take my class for the upcoming semester to just study consistently on a weekly basis (4 hours minimum) so that you will not experience the same fate as your senior. There is no shortcut except you have to apply the same concepts that made you do well in your SPM, STPM, Matriculation, i.e. the S.A.T.U. concept (from Dr Shukri, a motivator): "Sedia Awal / Tumpuan / Ulangkaji"

There are things that I am going to impose this semester:
1. Tutorials will be compulsory unlike the previous semester in which it is optional leading majority of the students did not attend.
2. Quizzes will be imposed (which is quite effective for my Solid State class) and normally at the beginning of tutorial as well as lectures to instill punctuality among students.
3.  Attendance will be taken on each lecture so that students will be accountable and bar from the examination can be applied if the students miss more than 70% of the lectures.
